Up towards the Steiner Hochalm

From the car park of the Rehbachklamm gorge, hike towards Hinterschießling Alm, where there is an apricot tree right in front of the house.

There are also many animals such as cows, rabbits and alpaccas here. Grazing on the pasture, this makes a beautiful composition.

Then you continue along hiking trails to the Steiner Hochalm. On the way you pass idyllic views into the valley and also towards the mountain.

If you like to photograph wild animals, you will certainly be happy on this section in winter, as there is the Gämsehang here. Here you can almost always see smaller chamois herds coming down further into the valley due to the cold.

The slope is also part of the hiking trail. It is steep, but even that is short-lived.

Only a little later you can see the Steiner Hochalm in the distance, where the next photographic delights await you.

Great hike with beautiful photo spots

The Sailabodenkreuz loop is a mixed route with a few steep sections. However, these are kept within limits and the photo spots are really varied.

From great views, such as of the Hintersteinersee, to photo spots for wildlife photography, this hike near Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser has a lot to offer.

In summer and autumn, normal hiking equipment is sufficient, although more is required in winter.

On this hike you can see the rural, beautiful mountain world of the Wilder Kaiser and as a photographer you can let off steam nicely with various landscapes.

So let's get started!

You can find a map with all the photo spots at the end of this post.

The great view of the Hintersteiner See

When you arrive at the Steiner Hochalm, you have a wonderful view of the Hintersteiner Lake and the Inn Valley.

Not far from the mountain pasture itself you will find a stone formation that can be used wonderfully for photo shoots. You can also unpack your snack here and enjoy the view.

The Steiner Hochalm itself is also beautiful and makes a great photo motif with the Wilder Kaiser in the background.

After this stopover, you then walk back a bit, where you then cross the pastures and through a piece of forest towards the Kaiser Hochalm.

The forest is almost mystical with its boulders, which can be found to the left and right of the path. Definitely a great photo spot in autumn.

And the chamois greet you

After the forest, walk along a mountain road for a short time. After a short while you can see the Kaiser Hochalm with its cute houses in the distance.

But not only the houses are worth taking a photo of. It is not uncommon to see something moving on the slopes behind them. Chamois are not uncommon here either.

They like to use the rocks as a vantage point to keep a close eye on the hikers.

At the Kaiser Hochalm itself, you can get a refreshing drink from the fountain for a small fee and enjoy the beautiful view from a bench facing south.

Once you have taken enough photos and regained your strength, you will head back down into the valley.

Now you go back down along the mountain road and can discover some photo spots here as well. The forest aisles here offer really beautiful compositions, with the Wilder Kaiser in the background.

An idyllic view

Now comes the point after which I named this photo hike. The Sailaboden Cross is idyllically situated with a wonderful view of the Kitzbüheler Horn Mountain.

A photo becomes particularly special when people are still sitting at the cross below. Then it looks almost like a brochure.

But you can also find great photo motifs at the cross itself, such as a single tree or close-up shots of people at the cross.

From here you walk back towards Hinterschießling Alm, following the hiking trail across the field. Here there is always the possibility of spotting birds and other wildlife.

From the alpine pasture itself, walk back to the Rehbachklamm car park.

Conclusion

With this hike, you have to add that there are many ways to go. We were travelling with a dog, which is why we did not go through the Rehbachklamm itself, as there are grids laid out on the ground.

Also, forestry work obstructed the original path. Nevertheless, it was a really relaxing hike for me with many beautiful photo spots.

I would also like to warn dog owners: If you are a dog owner, I would advise you to give the cows a wide berth, especially if there are calves nearby.

So...enough forewarning now. This hike is a wonderful loop for landscape and wildlife photographers. The alpine idyll is really relaxing and I guarantee you will stop again and again to take another photo.

However, it is always important to find an interesting angle and this is not always immediately obvious. But I believe in you. You will surely take great photos here.

All photo spots for you at a glance
