The Kaiser view
Once you have enjoyed the view, continue across the field. But please stay on the marked route and don't disturb the cows. After all, you don't like to be disturbed while you're eating.
After that, it gets steep for a short while. First over a gravel path, then through the forest past a farm and then along the ski lift to the end of the ski lift. Here you will find a path that goes along the Astberg.
But first...turn around. Why? Here you have one of the most beautiful views of the Wilder Kaiser and only a few people know about it. The trees create interesting lines and the Wilder Kaiser...is as beautiful as ever.
So take your time and let this panorama work its magic on you. Don't worry...there are other beautiful spots waiting for you.
Short, intense and simply dreamlike
I walk this route relatively often from spring to the end of autumn. The reason for this is that after a day at work, you usually don't have time for a hike. However, you still want to do something and it should be worthwhile.
Did you also not get much exercise today? Then this is the ideal walk. AND...photographers beware: Special treats await you here, because a few insider tips are waiting for you.
If you're staying overnight in Ellmau, that's already good. But if you are coming by car, I recommend parking your car at the Ellmauer Alm and starting from there.
Then walk a few metres/feet along the old road until it turns right and that's where the actual hike begins. Just a short way up the road, you will see a beautiful panorama over Ellmau. This spot is especially recommended at sunset, as the play of colours is simply fantastic.
A map with all the photo spots can be found at the end of this article.

Snacking and snapping
Now follow this path for a while until you come to a junction. Turn right at this junction. You have reached the highest point of the hike.
In front of you is a view to the east of the valley. Cows graze and you come to another junction. Here, you take the right-hand path as well.
If you follow this path, you will come to two benches. One faces southwest and the other northwest. This way you can comfortably enjoy both panoramas and eat your snack.
It is best to be here at the so-called "golden hour", i.e. at sunrise or sunset, because you can photograph countless motifs from one place and simply enjoy the play of colours.

Bringing the tour to a close
It's hard for me to move on every time, because this spot is simply fantastic. But we still have the final spurt with a short wellness programme ahead of us. Down we go past the beautiful Naschberghof farm, which is usually decorated with beautiful flowers that colourfully embellish the landscape.
Then we take the forest path down to the Marienkapelle chapel, which again offers a beautiful view over Ellmau. The interior of the chapel is also homely and beautiful. However, the chapel is not always open.
Then you zigzag down towards the village and here you will find a Kneipp station where you can put your feet in the cold water to finish off the loop nicely.
Finally, you walk through the village until you arrive back at the car park and voilà...as promised short, intense and dreamlike...the panoramic loop is done.
Let me know if you enjoyed the loop as much as I did.
